Apple's much-ballyhooed iPad has found at least one dissatisfied customer. Peter Bregman, a New York-based management consultant, said he returned his iPad to the store within days because it was just too good.

It's too easy. Too accessible," Bregman wrote on his blog. "For the most part, it does everything I could want. Which, as it turns out, is a problem."

Bregman's problem was that Apple's hip tablet computer was too addictive.

After standing in line for two hours to buy one, he couldn't put it down.

Not only did he find himself writing e-mails on it; he also began writing articles, checking the news and weather, and watching endless episodes of the Showtime drama "Weeds."

With an iPad, Bregman, the CEO of Bregman Partners Inc., was never bored. For him, that was unbearable.

"Being bored is a precious thing, a state of mind we should pursue," Bregman wrote on his blog. "My best ideas come to me when I am unproductive.

"To lose those moments, to replace them with tasks and efficiency, is a mistake."

Not only has returning the iPad restored those precious empty moments, but it's also coincided with Bregman's discovery of a new way to spend them: with his 8-year-old daughter.

He noted that she was constantly busy with school and extracurricular activities, and the only free time she had was immediately before going to bed.

But when she would try to talk to him then, he would hush her, afraid to take time away from her sleep.

Now he puts her to bed 15 minutes earlier, and during the extra time she talks to him about her day and the things she's thinking about.

"I listen and ask her questions," Bregman wrote. "It really has become my favorite part of the day."
